How can you use a mantra for therapy?
A mantra can be seen as an instrument of the mind , they are a powerful, sacred sounds or vibrations that can be used to enter a deep state of meditation. Each mantra is said to effect and influence the emotions, the body, the mind and even the physical world around us, as essentially the mantra is a frequency, an energy which can bring about change, as the external resonate with the vibration of the mantra.
The theory behind this amazing practice:
The theory of mantra is that each unique and sacred sound creates a certain energetic vibration that greatly influence the consciousness or the energetic centers of chakras in a particular way. It is considered that these sounds of mantras have been revealed to the enlightened beings or sages in the ancient times in very deep states of meditative mind. The theory is that each mantra has its own qualities and purpose encoded with in it. The practice of mantra involves selecting a word or series of words to repeat and affirm to oneself, by allowing its meaning to seep below the surface, into the sub-conscious for positive effect. Seed mantras hold no actual meaning and are used to subtly release negative energy and blockages being held within the system.
Now that you know this… how to put it into practice?
It is believed that repeating a mantra regularly can have a profound impact on inner ‘self-collected awareness’connection. Mantra has been used for thousands of years, there are many different mantras and each outcome can vary depending on the intention. Through using mantra an individual can become a little more available and saturated by the power of their own vital force, mantra helps to assist the cleansing and purifying process within a person, bringing balance within and without.
For me the mystic symbol of the mantra ‘OM’ is somewhat difficult to describe with words. In short, Om represents everything. It is said to be the seed of all creation. It contains all of the power of the universe, it is the beginning, the middle and the end or the past, the present and the future. Om holds incredible significance within yoga practice as the chanting of Om brings about personal awareness and clearer understanding of the physical reality of body and surroundings , the emotions, the mind, beliefs and thought. Incorporating mantra and affirmations into your daily practice and routine can have an incredible impact on your well-being and mental clarity . Even 5 minutes a day can have an extremely powerful effect as it shifts us from living in the past or future and points the inner compass toward being in the present moment. Which is always peace.
