Nutrition Challenge: Take Back Your Health, and GET LIT!

Hello! Welcome to your shopping list to make the best out of your GET LIT challenge! Nutrition is a MUST to give your body all the resources to make the best out of your trainings, enhance your metabolism, provide with fat soluble vitamins and fatty acids to speed up recovery and reduce inflammation (vitamin E and omega-3). We need proper hydration and micronutrient intake, anti-inflammatory ingredients, hormone balancing healthy fats and trace minerals, superfoods to boost our meal plan, and last but not least important… some amazing flavor! This list may seem a bit long but it is worth it and life changing, I have aimed for best value for the best price yet high quality, and they go a long way!

 

This is the book that contains all the principles and science behind our diet program. Refer to the “fountain of youth” chapter to learn about AGE (advanced glycation end products) and how you can manage simple cooking method to prevent premature aging. Note as well the chart for the smoke point of your oils and the minerals lost in the refining process, as well as the benefits of avoiding food additives. Hydration & Trace Elements

By giving your body the right trace minerals and B12 you will give it all the tools your body needs to help fix anything broken inside. On a 1.5 lt water bottle put one tablespoon of trace minerals and one pump of b12. The flavor is fantastic, really… being hydrated never tasted so good.

 

Energy Production

This products will help you produce energy. Nutritional Yeast is packed with B vitamins, responsible for turning food into energy, plus nourishing your nervous system with plenty of essential minerals, vitamins, and packed with protein. I get the 1.5lb bag for 30% less, as I know I will use it all, for the sake of keeping the total as low as possible I am suggesting the 1 lb bag. Matcha Green Tea is made with young green leaves of tea and besides the energy provided, it has very large amount of antioxidants buffering the oxidative stress from your trainings. For those of you who want to quit coffee this could be a great option to enjoy instead, Oolong Tea would be the tea in the middle of green and black tea, providing  antioxidants, energy with great focus and no crash. MCT Oil is the perfect company of your tea or coffee, as it gives you the energy of coconut oil straight up, do not exceed recommended dose. Black Cohosh and DIM-D are for women who need help with hormone balance.Flaxseed Oil is an excellent plant based source of Omega 3, one tablespoon into your daily smoothie doesn’t change the flavor and add the benefit.

Protein Sources

It is important to keep a good level of protein intake to support your muscles and overall energy level. Pea Protein is easy with your digestion and therefore easier for your body to uptake the amino acids. We will be using cashews to make nut cheeses and dressings for our meals, buying them in bulk and pieces can considerable increase the value and improve the price ratio… I leave a 5lbs bulk option for you, in case you already love these nuts.

Never The Least Important: THE FLAVOR

Guajillo Pepper is my preferred choice to use in the retreats as it is not hot and therefore friendly with tourists, who are not used to spicy food, yet providing all of the flavor. We will mix 2 tablespoons on a bottle of olive oil and shake, after a couple of days it releases the flavor into the oil and as well an amazing color red that makes food look beautiful. Cajun is on my kitchen for at least 15 years and will continue to do so, thank you Louisiana for such a lovely culinary delight! I have found this brand flavorful and not spicy hot, as opposed to some others. Although commercial chocolate is harmful, pure Cacao Powder is amazing for your health, besides the flavor, it is very high in magnesium, which works to help the contraction of your muscles, including your beloved heart muscle, we will use it in our banana smoothie. Coconut Sugar is a low Glycemic Index sweetener, meaning it will not spike your glucose, you can add a tablespoon to your smoothie, a teaspoon to your tea, and we will use it as the sweetener to our probiotic Ketchup!

The Detox Juice

The detox juice will be made with 10 cucumbers, 2 pineapples, 5 limes, 1 inch of ginger, clove, turmeric powder, allspice, black pepper, and apple cider vinegar for probiotics and organic acid preservation. We will need a Filter Bag to remove insoluble fiber and leave only Soluble fiber which works as a prebiotic, slows the absorption of sugar and lowers cholesterol, the acidity in the juice as well dissolves fat-soluble toxins from our body. Our oat milk will contain as well spices such as Nutmeg and cinnamon, look for Ceylon Cinnamon, it helps out liver to convert sugars into energy by means of insulin sensitivity.

The Fresh Veggies Etcetera

We will need some fresh produce to make the magic happen. Please make your list so you don’t forget anything. A handful of Bananas, about 1 – 2 inches of Ginger depending if you find it skinny then 2 inches. One medium Broccoli. 2 Onions. 1 bag of Spinach 2 avocados many people don’t know too well how to pick them, the should not be soft when squeezed lightly between our five fingers, yet be soft so we can poke it with the tip of the thumb, be nice to them! If you find only hard ones, leave them in a bag, tied but slightly open, with your bananas, the fruit gas will mature them in a day or two. Zuchinnis. Your favorite piece of Squash. Sweet Potato we will use about 2 medium per week, these don’t go bad easily and you can get more if you want. 6 carrots. 2 Beetroots. Garlic.  PURE Tomato Paste you usually find in a glass with Italian brand, but the only important thing to look for is that it does not contain any second ingredient as we will make this probiotic. Sea Salt not iodized, we need very little so small bottle is fine. Black Pepper I assume everyone has this already sitting at home. Chia Seeds a small package will do. Pecan nuts same deal, small package, found the smaller with best value for you but feel free to buy at store. Balsamic Vinegar. Dijon or regular mustard. Small bag of Rolled Oats. Mango fresh or frozen is both fine. Coconut Cream, please read ingredients label that it doesn’t contain strange ingredients that you can hardly pronounce, otherwise I leave a good option here. Coconut oilBerries, your favorite, because they are highly perishable, frozen or fresh is fine. I assume you all have a food processor and a pan with cover at home, I suggest using the thicker pan you can find, I will leave a suggestion of the one I use, handles heavy duty cooking,  diffuses heat amazingly, and it is PFOA free (may cause cancer). I’m not sure why lids cost as much as the pan, yet, if you already have a 12 inch lid, or another pan that size you can use that to cover, just more practical to see in the glass how your food is doing. Cacao butter is an optional “secret” ingredient for the biscuits of joy recipe. Magnesium Orotate helps deal with headaches from coffee withdrawal, muscle contraction, and sugar metabolism.
