At a glance

A calm, carefully held way to begin the new year

This small-group retreat combines preparation, facilitated ceremonial work, yoga, meditation, breathwork, nature time, temazcal and post-retreat integration. It is designed for adults who want a structured pause—not a rushed party itinerary—and who are comfortable taking part in a screening and informed-consent process.

The experience is wellness and ceremonial in nature. It is not medical treatment, a hospital or an emergency department, and it does not promise a cure or a guaranteed emotional, spiritual or medical outcome.

The rhythm of the retreat

Five days to arrive, participate and integrate

The sequence below is a clear guide rather than a promise of fixed times. Venue, weather, screening, group needs and informed consent can change the order of activities.

Day 1
Arrival

Arrive, settle in and complete orientation

Airport-to-retreat logistics are confirmed in advance. After arrival, the group settles into the accommodation, reviews expectations, completes screening and orientation, and begins preparation for the days ahead.

Day 2
Opening

Preparation, nature and the opening ceremony

A guided preparation practice leads into the first facilitated ceremony in a nature setting, with the team present and the pace kept spacious. Breathwork, meditation and reflection support the transition into the retreat.

Day 3
Integration

Rest, reflection and embodied integration

Time is held for rest, journaling, gentle movement, yoga, sound or music, nourishing meals and one-to-one support as appropriate. The emphasis is on listening, grounding and making meaning without forcing a result.

Day 4
Temazcal

Temazcal and a consent-based closing ritual

The group may take part in a traditional temazcal led by Sadi. Any separate optional traditional plant-medicine smoke ceremony is not required and is offered only when screening, availability and informed consent support it.

Day 5
Departure

Closing circle and departure planning

The retreat closes with reflection, practical integration guidance and departure planning. Standard check-out timing is normally around 11:00 AM, subject to the confirmed venue and travel arrangements.

The setting

Portal Xibalba and the Riviera Maya

The New Year retreat is based around Portal Xibalba, a jungle setting in the Sacbé area near Playa del Carmen. The environment gives the group room for quiet, shared meals, nature walks and ceremony while keeping the exact private address protected.

Venue details, room assignment and amenities are confirmed for the selected date. The wider area may include nearby nature locations and off-site activities depending on weather, site conditions and the final itinerary.

Travel: Cancún International Airport (CUN) is the nearest airport commonly used by guests. Private airport transfer options and pricing must be reconfirmed before booking.

Safety and screening

Read this before applying

Every applicant completes an initial screening call and health questionnaire before acceptance is confirmed and before a direct-booking deposit is collected. We ask about medications and supplements, cardiovascular or blood-pressure concerns, mental-health history, previous psychedelic or substance experience, allergies, dietary needs, mobility and support needs.

Please disclose medications and supplements, especially SSRIs, SNRIs, MAOIs, lithium, and heart or blood-pressure medication. Do not stop or change prescribed medication without guidance from the clinician who prescribed it.

Dr. Mauricio José Bussoli, MD, supports the Day 1 medical Q&A, medication screening and initial threshold-session support. He is available on call afterward; continuous on-site physician coverage is not guaranteed. The retreat is not a medical facility, and participants should maintain appropriate professional care before and after travel.

Facilitators remain with the group during ceremonies. A first-aid/CPR-trained team member, vehicle and driver are described as available for ceremonies, and the team follows a local emergency protocol. Participation is voluntary and depends on screening, informed consent and the conditions of the retreat.

Preparation

How to arrive ready

  • Bring a valid passport, comfortable clothing, swimwear, walking shoes and a journal.
  • Share medication, supplement, dietary, mobility and support information honestly during screening.
  • Plan recovery time after the retreat rather than returning immediately to a demanding schedule.
  • Review the Privacy Policy and Terms before submitting personal information.
  • Ask every practical question before paying a deposit.
Optional elements

Nothing is forced

Yoga, meditation, breathwork, nature time, cacao, sound/music and temazcal are offered within the retreat structure as appropriate. A separate traditional plant-medicine smoke ceremony may be available after temazcal, but it is optional, not guaranteed, subject to screening and availability, and requires informed consent.

There is no obligation to participate in an optional activity, and declining an optional element does not remove your right to ask questions or receive respectful support.
